The wife of Tigranes;
& the mother of: Gaius Julius Alexander of Cilicia and Herodian princess Julia (who becomes a priestess of Artemis);
& the grandmother (through Alexander) of:Julia of Cilicia, Gaius Julius Agrippa, and Gaius Julius Alexander Berenicianus

is given by different sources as
1) JULIA OF CHALCIS, DAUGHTER OF HEROD POLLIO OF CHALCIS
(Wagner, Sir Anthony Richard; ‘Pedigree and Progress: Essays in the Genealogical Interpretation of History’
and
2) OPGALLI, A PHRYGIAN NOBLEWOMAN who may have been a Hellenic Jew
(wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigranes_VI_of_Armeniacites numismatic evidence from his kingship. Her royal title is in Greek ΒΑΣ ΟΠΓΑΛΛΥ which means of Queen Opgalli. ΒΑΣ is the royal abbreviation or shortening for the Greek word ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΑ which means Queen. Opgalli bore Tigranes at least two known children: a son Gaius Julius Alexander and a daughter Julia. Tigranes and his children were the last royal descendants of the Kings of Cappadocia.")

HELP!!!

Failing any reply on this, and also not finding any original source confirmation for the existence of any daughter (only 2 sons) of Herod Pollio & Julia Berenice, Queen of Chalcis, I am presuming that Wagner wasn't aware that the mother, Berenike. was also called Julia Berenike, and erroneously assumed there must have been a daughter called Julia.

The evidence for Opgalli being the person designated here, seems to me to be far stronger, so I am changing the name to that and removing the profile photo of the lineage chart. (Also having received no reply from the user who posted it, as to it's source.)

A further confirmation of Wagner's confusion is that he designates Polemon - Julia Berenice's (well documented) 3rd husband; as the 2nd husband of the person he sees as her daughter Julia of Chalcis.

Is this pertinent to your messaged discussion? It's the one substantial change I've made to Herod's descendants.

On Herod's descendants it removes altogether the generation represented by Julia of Chalcis as Julia Berenice, Princess of Judaea, Queen of Chalcis's daughter - making them the same woman.

That also removes Julia Berenike (misnamed Julia Chalcis) as the wife of Tigranes in favour of Opgalli ., a Phrygian Noblewoman.

This takes Alexander, King of Cilicia (husband of Julia Iotape of Commagene) out of the Herod descent through his mother - now Opgalli - not Julia Berenike (misnamed Julia Chalcis).
He is still a Herod descended through his father, Tigranes VI, King of Armenia.

This may or may not be the Hasmonean glitch that you're picking up guys - Take a look and let me know.

I really wouldn't know Sharon.

Hi Adam. Truthfully, I don't know - I think I was quoting a citation already on the About.
