Hey everyone, I have been using Ancestry.com to trace my lineage on Geni.com

I traced my Kerr ancestry back to 'Rollo' Kerr, the supposed son of 'Rollo', by an un-named wife, who may have been Poppa

Here: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/28274379/person/12071936594?ssrc= [Do a search for Rollo Kerr, born 1085 and you'll find a lot of duplicate trees on ancestry],

I have put it up here, http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000017527384906

Just wondering if anyone can help me re-create the proper tree etc, for the Kerr's?

I am a Norwegian.Rollo The Duke of Normandi was born in Norway and belong to a Viking Dynasty. He was my 30 th Great Grandfather and Popa his wife was my 30 th Great Grandmother.Apparently she was born a woman with no title.

I just found some other information about Poppa confirming that she was the daughter of Count Berenger of Bayyeux Normandi and that he is my 31 th Great Grandfather . kdale44@csloxinfo.com

The thing about Ancestry.com is that anybody can post anything, and there is absolutely no attempt at verification. This means that the information you find there should be carefully and skeptically examined, and cross-checked with any primary documents you can find (charters and land records are particularly useful when you get back before parish records and such).

1085 is too early for surnames, although patronymics (X son of Y, X Ysson, X mac Y, X ap Y) and nicknames (X (the) Y) are often found.

A good place to start cross-checking is http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/NORMANDY.htm - the site manager, Charles Cawley, is fairly scrupulous about providing whatever documentation exists, about labeling speculation as such, and about *not* including anything that has no plausible means of support.

This section starts off, in fact, with a detailed discussion about the historicity and possible ancestry of Rollo/Hrolf/Robert.
