I have no idea if they were ever in North Africa. I do know they came from the Island of Rhodes. Many people from the Island of Rhodes went to then Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). This was due to the economy on Rhodes was low. Not much work or opportunities available. So they went to Rhodesia to create a new life.
