There have been some merges in the Reeder and Burroughs families and the profiles need to be better sourced and documented and in some instances made into Master Profiles. Here is a merge that is questionable although the dead dates are the same but the offspring and place of death are different.

If there is anyone who is a descendant of these two families or has a lot of knowledge of this early period, it would be excellent if you worked on these families with me and others.

Here is the merge: http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000021780075201?return=duplic...

Linda Kathleen Thompson, (c) -- you are one of the managers, do you know much about this period and are you available to help here?

Profiles include John Jacob Reeder, II Joanna Reeder Martha Burroughs-Reeder and Jeremiah Burroughs

I'm going to leave the tree for a few hours and come back and see if anyone with expertise wants to pitch in. Then I'll start researching. There are good sources although they may not always agree.

[[6000000003481510305] you curate some of these families' profiles.

Hi Hatte Anne Blejer. I don't know very much about this section, but I can try to do some sourcing if you would still like some help.

8/17/2014 at 9:01 PM

I would. This is a bad week for me but I promise I'll get back to them. I let them partially merged unfortunately.

8/18/2014 at 5:02 AM

Then I will start sourcing it later this evening.

I worked on adding some sources and did a little work in that area, but there appeared to be some real conflict in the info out there. I will look at it more tomorrow.

That was why I stopped since i was not available over the weekend much nor this week. It looked like it needed some real sourcing, research, and clean up.

And things like this certainly don't help! lol

I'm wondering if there are two Burroughs families intertwined....
I will look at it fresh tomorrow after work.

Perhaps this will help...........tomorrow.

I disconnected the two Jeremiah wives in order that this can be easier to look at. In my opinion this profile is the key. Are they the same or different John Burroughs?
John Burroughs, I

I've been looking at this because it is easy to see where the John Burroughs might differ.

Sorry. That second link doesn't go to where I thought that it would go. Perhaps this will work better.

I'm still trying to find some good sources to straighten this out. I'm not having a lot of luck. I can't figure out were all these dates and locations came from.

8/23/2014 at 8:40 PM

I was of the opinion that two John Burroughs were mixed. I probably STILL won't have much time, but it will wait so don't feel impelled to work on it. I'll be free for a 4 day weekend next week but once again overloaded with houseguests and work this week.

I haven't worked on John Burroughs (1617) forward for some time, been tangled up in UK and Europe trying to flush out what is and what is not. The only Burroughs I've spent time sourcing over the last year or so is James 2 with no new results. Steve''s research is the primary source for what I have for John to Ephraim 1. I will spend some time over the next couple of weeks researching John back to his father Jeremiah? That's where I ran into the praverbial wall.

Robert (Bob) Burroughs,
Is Family Central the one that is Steve's research?

8/30/2014 at 12:03 AM

Steve called his research project, "The Burroughs family of Newtown, New York" That's all I know. Not sure what your term "Family Central" is.

Erica, That is the correct tree.

That should help.

Reference:

Ancestry.com. U.S., New England Marriages Prior to 1700 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2012.

In 1641, John Burroughs married Joanna Jessup, daughter of John of Wethersfield and Johanna Kerrich (Whitmore).

Reference: Find a Grave lists Joanna's birthdate as 1620, not 1617. Had she been born in 1617 her father would be 15.

Conflicting information is that John Burroughs married Elizabeth Jessup, daughter of John of Wethersfield and Johanna Kerrich (Whitmore) Reference: History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield, Vol. 1. Pages 337--338, by Donald Lines Jacobus (and also available on Ancestry.com database)

Also reported in this source is that John Burroughs married second, widow Elizabeth Reed.
