MY MTDNA HAPLOGROUP IS L3b WHICH IS FROM THE HORN OF AFRICA;
I HAD IT DONE IN 2007 BY THE DNA HERITAGE.
ALSO LIJSBETH IS MY ANCESTOR
MOTHER OF LISBETH SANDERS MOTHER OF CLARA HERBST/TARLING ...
i f you go on WIKIPEDIA you will see that amiral Gilles de la Roche Saint André went on expedition to Madagascar
in 1655/57 but also to the Golfe d'Aden , on the Horn of Africa he captured an Arabian boat with 30men and 25 slaves.
The ship navigated past the Cape Gardafui en route to SOKOTRA in the Oman sea then back to Madagascar in january 1657.
He and his float proceeded back to France and halted in Cape Town in march 1657.
This is were he met Jan van Riebeek and gave the 2 slave sisters to Maria de la Queillerie.

Lijsbeth Arabus, SM/PROG Barbara as far as I know L3b is most common in West Africa and L3 is most common in East Africa.

Hi Veronica you are right L3b is found in West Africa but also in East.
Keep in mind that slaves came also from the West and central west Africa..Woman slaves were used you know how. Unfortunatly we don't know much of the slaves history if nothing at all !! All we can do is make hypothetic guesses.

Based on the travels of Gilles de la Roche-Saint-André. We have a number of options for the origins of Lijsbeth.

1) From the Arab dhow that was captured off the Horn of Africa in August 1656.

2) Socotra

3) St. Mary's island in Madagascar

4) Fort-Dauphin, Madagascar (today called Tôlanaro.)

Lijsbeth is from Abyssinia her haplogroup is L3b which is from
there and a black woman. So I think she was taken in slavery by the Arabs
and on route to be sold in a slave market. Read the story of Abyssinia in 1656 on Wikipedia. Cheers Barbara.
