Good question. In my own file, I have him listed as being born in Berkeley County, VA (now WV) which came to me from info sent to me over 15 years ago by a cousin. I also have an email from a distant cousin who was writing a book about the Curtis family which said:
(email from Wendell Curtis, from a book he is writing with his brother)
JOB CURTIS
1717-1804
When Job Curtis was born in 1717, even the counties of Virginia were relatively few. He was about 55 years of age when Berkley County was formed. Whether he was born in that locality or not is uncertain, but there is evidence that he lived at least a good portion of his life in Berkley County, Virginia. (When West Virginia was formed in 1863, Berkley County became a part of that state).
FYI, the misspelling of "Berkley" came from his email.
I do not know who added the note and I don't have the middle initial "B" in my file.
To make things more confusing, I have a copy of a page from a book called History of Clinton County Ohio with a biography of a man named R. Curtis who was a g-grandson of Job Curtis. In that article, they say Job was born in England. It was originally shared on Ancestry at: https://www.ancestry.com/mediaui-viewer/collection/1030/tree/541065... (I'm not sure if that link will work here and if it does, you probably need an Ancestry account to see it. Feel free to email me at chersfmly@gmail.com and I'll email you a copy if you want.
