Kia ora Winston Buckingham, If this man was known as Taupiri, then he is a brother of my grandfather, Te Ikapiti Reweti (Or Matekohuru Reweti). Their father was my great grandfather Te Rakaherea Reweti Cootes (Snr), who was the son of an English Whaler from Suffolk (I think) named James Cootes and his wife or partner, Paki Whango. My grandfather chose to leave the Cootes name off his surname and just use Reweti. Where do you live? I live a little out of Rotorua in a village named Ngongotaha, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. If you would like to know more, I have a maternal cousin who did the Reweti Whanau in Tribalpages.com. Her initials are NJ Albert. I can be found vis email: ron.jeanette@xtra.co.nz or phone 073575644
Kia Ora Winston,
It would be good to hear from you. I am retired and volunteer a couple of days each week.
I must admit that I have more information on my father's side than on my mother's "Reweti" side, but I do have all of James Cootes children that he had to different women. Please let me know what you do have.
Cheerio for now
R.Jeanette "Charteris" Healand
