I need to know who his ancestors were. His wife's maiden name was Morenger? Nobody is sure how to spell it. He was born about 1817 somewhere in Pennsylvania and she was born about 1811 in Michigan. We believe he was some kind of minister. He also had a son of the same name. It is not the children I am interested in, though. We think they both died in July of 1859.
Some people in the family say these Fishers are from Germany and others think they are from England.
Several cousins and myself have hit the brick wall and have been there for a long, long time. Many of us have been to Pennsylvania looking for answers over the last 40 years and cannot find them.
If anyone can help, several of these cousins of mine are getting well up in years and would like to know sooner rather than later....

I was reading the webpage that Mark Edwin Guest found and will list some exerts that i found that partly match the person you are looking for.

Joseph Fisher Jr, b. May 20th, 178(> ; m. Mary Kimbpel

"The removal of Joseph Fisher and his children, with
their families, from Sussex Coimty, N. J., to the wild and
undeveloped lands of the Susquehanna Valley in
Northumberland County, Pa., was doubtless due to
various circumstances."

"in 1788,
Joseph Fisher, Sr., with his family, journeyed to their
new home that he had purchased April 7th, 1788, of
Samuel and Margaret Reeder, and which was located in
Catawissa township, Northumberland County, containing
one hundred acres. They arrived there the year after
Catawissa had been first laid out by William Hughes. "

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I looked at the document and I looked at all the Joseph's listed. I found this interesting : 135. Emily" Reeder (John'), born in Shamokin town-
ship, Northumberland County, Pa., May 27th, 1805; m.,
June 8th, 1821, to John, son of Caleb and Hannah FivSher
Farley, born Feb. 9th, 1792, in Shamokin township,
Northumberland County; died July 18th, 1871, buried at
Sharp Ridge.

They were farmers, and resided upon a farm in Rush
township, Northumberland County. They were both
members of the Methodist Church. She still resides in
the vicinity of Union Corners.

They had issue :

i. Jeremiah'', b. May 28th, 1823.
ii. Mary, b. Nov. 27th, 1825.
iii. EHzabeth, b. March 30th, 1828.
iv. Joseph R., b. May 3d, 1831.
V. Catharine A., b. May 31st, 1835.
vi. Rebecca, b. March 6th, 1838.
vii. Harriet M., b. Sept. 13th, 1844.
viii. Isaac J., b. Aug. 14th, 1847.

Half the names are the same, but that was not uncommon back then. The rest of the names don't match-even though the birthdates of the matching children are within 5 years. I know the names of his children and their descendants are absolutely correct in the Geni tree. Therefore, I do not believe the aforementioned excerpt is my Joseph's father.
I read the entire eye-blurring list for him....I will reread it again to see if I missed him, but I do not see him or his family at all. Perhaps you could look at his children and go from there? Or maybe through his wife?
I really do appreciate you helping me (us) with this, as I do not have access to a great many resources. I did go to Pennsylvania last summer and, what a surprise, still didn't find anything. I am not convinced he is from Penn, but then again, I really don't know.

I found this obituary that lists him, his wife, and all his children. This might help you a lot!

I also found a chat group about the Fisher surname and a lady mentioned this....

"Looking for information on my great grandfather Joseph Franklin Fisher born in Mercer Co, PA, around 1835. I have no information on parents/siblings."

A person later mentions the Joseph Franklin Fisher's parents were Henry and Catherine. This could be him with an incorrect birth date.

You also might want to read through this chat group. They are talking about Fisher Descendants

I found this page that lists his Wife as Elizabeth. But the birth date seems about right so it could be him. It also says he was from England. So it could either be an unknown fact or wrong.

Most of the information you posted was put out by me. As I said, I already know all about his progeny. My problem lies in where he was born and from whom he is descended and the countries of their birth.
The message board on Ancestry is old--from 2002. I already have this information.
Could the following family be your Joseph Frederick Fisher who also went to Iowa????

Joseph Franklin Fisher b. 1837 Mercer Cty., PA d. 1913 Mountain Grove, MO
(D) m. Lucy P. South
Children: Jerry Fisher (Private)
Buck Fisher (Private)
m. 1866 Elizabeth Gates b. 1846 Sspringfield Twp. Ross Cty., OH d. 1925 Reedley, CA
Children: John Henry Fisher b. 1866 West Liberty, IA d. 1946 Edmond, OK
George Grant Fisher b. 1868 West Liberty, IA d. 1955 Edmond, OK
Joseph Fisher b. 1873 West Liberty, IA D. 1948 Edmond, OK
Fredrick Franklin Fisher b. 1877 West Liberty IA d. Morgan Hill, CA
Clara Elnora (Ella) Fisher b. West Liberty, IA
Jacob J Fisher (Twin) b. 1880 West Liberty, IA d. 193?
Jessie Fisher (Twin) b. 1880 West Liberty, IA d. infant
Lawson Oliver Fisher b. 1884 Leavenworth, KS d. 1954 Reedley, CA

This information is actually JFF Sr.'s son, JFF Jr.
The one from drewery.com is most likely wrong considering a pastor would not work in a brewery.
The information about Rachel is already known. I don't have her parents or ancestry, either.
Thanks for trying to help me. I appreciate it :-)
