Geni seems to agree that Richard Case of Necton (born c 1530) has been confused with Richard Chase of Chesham (born 1520). Thus, people mistakenly assumed that Richard Case of Necton was born in Chesham.; which was actually the birth place of Richard Chase. Thanks, Geni for correcting this.

Yuck, here's another one

Thomas Case

1. Is he definitely a son of Necton Richard
2. Is the birth date valid or is this a pickup from a Thomas Case son of Chesham Richard
3. Are there good guides to follow / reference ?

According to your own records you have the father, Matthew Chase, of Hundridge (1486) and his sons listed as Francis (1514), John (1516), William (1516), Matthew (1518), Richard (1520), Thomas (1520) Ralph (1522) and one daughter Bridget (1522). John and William (both born in 1516) certainly were not born in the same year. Neither were Richard and Thomas who were born in 1520. Something is wrong here and needs to be corrected.
People were confusing the Chase’s of Chesham with the Case’s of Norfolk by thinking that Richard Chase was somehow Richard Case’s father, thus linking the two families together. Not only are the two names different but that would have meant that Richard Chase (1520) would have only been 10 or 12 years old when he had Richard Case (1530-32). Then they started listing Richard Case (1530-32) As one of Matthew Chase’s sons. But who would name one son Richard Chase (1520) and another Richard Case (1530-32)? And finally, if the Chase’s and the Case’s were connected people assumed that the Case’s came from Chesham—which they did not.

Under Richard Case, of Necton (1530-32) you have his sons listed as Thomas Case (1558), William Solomon Case of Great Fransham (1560), Robert Case (1563), Richard Case Jr. (1565), Edward Case (1567) and Henry Case (1571). All of which sounds plausible.

I am a direct descendant of William Solomon Case of the Dorset and his father William Solomon Case of Great Fransham and his father Richard Case of Necton. Necton and Great Fransham are both in Norfolk—which was settled by Normans. My DNA suggests that the Case’s came across the channel from Normandy—probably with William the Conqueror and settled in the Norfolk area.

Hello, I am also a descendant of Richard Case of Necton. My name is Jeremy Case and I live in the US.

Jeremy, I too live in the U.S. Can you shed any light on who Richard Case's father is? P.S. My heritage goes back to Richard through Henry Case, the youngest son of William Solomon Case who died on the Dorset.

Hello cousins,
I saw your conversation in the random email feed from Geni and thought I would chime in... We are on the same trail and this has me curious...

So much of what we state as fact has little proof other than tradition so I'm always curious to find out if new information is provable. We do a good job of repeating dates we've seen on other sites but do we have the source documentation?

I have another version of the Case to America line that could use some review and comment on Wikitree if anyone would like to take a look. Please feel free to reach out to me.

George

Hello fellow cousins, Richard Case is also my direct patrilineal ancestor. Have any of you found any luck in locating his correct father?
