Ian Steaman -
The same email cannot be used to log in to more than one Geni Profile. If tried, they will be merged.
So it is very unlikely the same person is masquerading as all those different people.
Or
Do you mean they are listed as a Manager? That is not what "claimed" means.
Your mother is shown as a Geni user but with a Manager - which means she never set her own password, so her profile is what is sometimes referred to as semi-claimed. If she had set her her own password, nobody would be shown listed as a Manager.
If she has died, you may want to click Actions, then click Report, and Report her deceased. Customer Service will then close her account.
If Ian is not related to her 4th cousin or closer, you can remove him as a manager.
For everyone 4th cousin or closer who is not a Geni User, you can add yourself as a Manager.
AH -- and you are the Iain shown as Manager of your Mother, Father, and sister. Nobody is shown as Manager of your profile.
For you, it says "Started family tree June 9, 2010"
So probably some time in 2010 you entered their email in their email field and they clicked on the link Geni sent them as a result of that - thus establishing themself as a Geni user.
Entering an email in the email field is how one causes Geni to send an invite to that person to claim their profile.
And if they click on the link in that email, then they have claimed that profile.
Yes, I am the Ian that’s the manager of my mom’s profile. My mother may have done that at some point. Sounds plausible. I have reported her as deceased so hopefully that will help. I have to say: I think it’s an odd quirk that Geni has made it so that only the person who has claimed a profile can change the status as how are they supposed to do that if they are dead?? 🤷🏾♂️
