In 1968, Janie Aleman, Grandma Lupe Aleman and I drove to Firebough, California. In 1959, Grandma Lupe family, Reyna and my mother lived here in 1959. This was the place my dad died. Here in Calif. we met a family grandma knew. I remember they took us to se where my father died. It was a T - intersection. I one talking said," We were working in the fields, when we notice a deardevil sand storm approaching the intersection and saw two trucks drive into a cloud of nothing but sand. We knew there was going to be an accident. And then we heard it 'BANG'. We rand to the seen. Only to find out it was Urbano and other friends of theirs." So, we got off at the intersection to see. It was nothing but fields, not a tree in sight. You could see a long ways. Just sandy loan everywhere. Then we went to explore what these people did for a living. Life starts at 4:00 am. First, we started the trucks then pulled out to pick up ice and then pickup the people on the trucks. Then they started picking up melons. From morning till noon (lunch) then work to the end of the day. Well, there you have it. My grandma always wanted trucks to make a living in working the fields.
