Hello

I discovered this project with a lot of interest
My son's haplogroup is this one and confirmed
But his grand father was adopted because left in front door o an hospital in Paris in 1910
Can anyone help
Thank you

Doesn’t seem likes lot of activity in this group. There isn’t any discussions I could find. So far this is the only DF98 group I’ve found

I too am a descendant of R-DF98. I took my test on Living DNA. I don’t seem to have a way to input my haplogroup into Geni. Living DNA uses positive SNP markers instead of STR. Not sure if our info can easily be compared. I have positive SNP markers showing mutations of DF98 at a lower level. If your sons markers match mine we could have a more recent ancestor and maybe his Grandfather original lineage I haves French sounding name so Paris might work.

I followed my Danyeur name down paternal line to 1860 in the US and it disappears before that. so I wonder if my last names spelling got changed.
Hoping my Y chromosome results solve my search.

Hello,
we have tested my son and he took the test on LivingDNA, too. So we are both DF98. But this subclade is from 3500 until 4000 years ago (when I understand right what I found on internet - you can google "kings cluster")
So our relationsship is not near enough to find common ancestors

I’m aware our DF98 shared ancestors was long ago.
Not 100% sure but I believe The living DNA raw data shows our mutated clade’s to the current age. In comparing our raw data, we could find out if we have a more recent ancestor. LivingDNA raw data only shows the positive test areas

hi all
finally a comon dna for my son
it is so rare
ok i found that u106 dna is a subgroup
his gedmatch is T736176 and sub group R-Fgc14758
do you have your gedmatch?
best

I am on GEDMATCH but in the Genesis version. I took AncestryDNA first but it doesn’t deal with the 23 Chromosomes only autosomal DNA. So I took an inexpensive LivingDNA test. That’s how I found out I’m a member of the DF98 subclade which is one of the many subclades of R-U106.
LivingDNA raw data is not import compatible yet. Also, Only The Positive SNP markers are reported. This makes it hard to do direct matches at the moment. I’m still trying to map the raw data to determine marker order.
Been looking at Ytree layouts, specifically R-Df98 to see any matches groups to my Raw Data there. One of my markers matches a subgroup of DF98 so I know of a subgroup of the DF98 group I belong to. Just looked up to see if your one of your sons groups are there. I did not find a group that matches the two subgroup you report. But you may have other markers that do match. As Ytree grows, it may make our quest easier to find more recent common ancestors.

Hi I am on 23 & me and am a r-df98 haplogroup.

My mom's brothers are R-DF98. I am trying to solve a paternity mystery in the family. My 3X Great Grandmother Frances Cook never married, so we hope DNA might help us identify her paramour. Except for a couple of first cousins, I haven't found any other male matches on 23andMe with the same haplogroup. I did find one with an unknown connection that's R-DF88. Has anyone found a chart that shows how far back those two haplogroups are connected?

My GEDmatch number is A357817. I am a Harwood or a Howard. I seem to be a descendant of Matthew Howard and Ann Hall. Or John Howard and Margaret Clark. Could be the 2 families are related.

Carter. I do match your son on chromosome 15. 6.9 cM's. Five more smallish matches (3 to 4.2 cM's) on other chromosomes. My understanding is R-DF98 goes back to Saxony in Germany. On Family Tree DNA I have 1,164 matches at the 12 marker level. Of all those matches only a few are Howard. That means your son's name could be just about anything. For example: Meyer, Kuhlman, Erdmann, Geye are surnames near Leipzig in Germany. I assume our DNA remains in Germany. I expect my ancestors made their way to Flanders or Belgium or Frisia and then went to England. My FTDNA map has around 20 DNA cousins in France. Le Maire, Lefebvre, De Carteret, for example. I just updated my DNA and I am now R-S18823. I don't know how that fits with R-Fgc14758.

I am also r-df98, i would live to learn more about this haplogroup
