Mr. Harrop attended Taylorsville school (southwest of Duncan Falls) and followed various pursuits previous to his removal to Shawnee in 1893. For eight years he was engaged in the restaurant and bakery in partnership with Mr. H.A.Carter.
April 3, 1901 he was united in marriage with Miss Jennie Maud Bratton of Cambridge, Ohio. He soon after engaged in is present business and has conducted the bottling works successfully. Mr. Harrop manufactures soft drinks of all kinds and supplies Shawnee, New Straitsville, Corning, Rendville, Hemlock, Congo and other towns with the products of his concern.
He is the father of two children, Walter M. who will be 5 years of age June 15 and Myrtle Elizabeth who was two years old april 12, 1907.
Mr. Harrop is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Knights of Pythias. He has been a member of the Town Council for four years.
During the season of 1906 he was the manager of the "Shawnee Grays" one of the fastest independent baseball teams in South Eastern Ohio. Mr Harrop was very successful in the management of the team and is an enthusiastic follower of the national sport. The Grays lost but two games on the home grounds during the season being defeated after hard fought battles by the famous "Cincinnati Reds" and the Newark aggregation - both being professional teams.
