Inquiring if Kareem Abdul Jabbar family tree connects other Alcindor relatives from Martinique, Haiti, Guadeloupe or any other islands to the relatives from Trinidad? My great grandfather was Phillipe Alcindor born in Martinique and I was told that we we are related to Kareem Abdul Jabbar but the direct connection was never discussed. My great-grandfather migrated to Dominica in the early 1900s after Mt Pelee Volcano erupted in Martinique circa 1902. Upon entry to Dominica, British government, changed his Alcindor surname origin to Alcendor. Therefore, all Alcendor's are connected from the island of Dominica, this is why my surname Alcendor is spelled with the "e" and not "I". My mother Annie (RIP) informed me when I was 10 years old that Lew Alcindor had visited us in 1971 in Tampa, Florida unannounced / spontaneously when he was playing for the Milwaukee Bucks. My sister Gennice was 10 years old and witness this and confirmed the story our mom told me. Also, I was pre-mature and resided in the hospital for my first 11 months; he supposedly paid for my hospital bill. However, I have been trying to contact Kareem since 1998 and get him to verify this info but no luck! Therefore, if Mr. Hanit or Mr. Bickle can assist me I would appreciate this.
