I just noticed on Ernestine Ziegler (Benroth)'s profile that it says she was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. My understanding has always been that women can only be auxiliary members.

Are there occasionally exceptions made, maybe in non-sanctioned or breakaway KOCs, or can we safely assume that the line in her obituary means she was a 4th degree member of the Daughters of Isabella, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Columbiettes, or the Daughters of Mary Immaculate?

Also: unless otherwise specified, does auxiliary membership typically mean the Columbiettes? I know that CDA members usually specify their organization's name, so when an obituary just says "auxiliary member," I usually assume it means a Columbiettes chapter.
