I find no proof of his death nor a tombstone in Canton, SD area. Is it possible this is him instead?

According to church records for Øksnes was Martin Monrad Olsen born 19 Aug. 1886
aänd christened 10 Okt. 1886. He drowned at sea 11 Jan. 1912

Ok - I was confused but now understand. Martin Monrad is an uncle of Hakon Fjelstad. He emigrated to America. Martin Monrad Olsen is the correct one as you cite. Thank you.
