Biveinis

His name is Jonas Biveinis (Beveinis). Born in 1884 12 16 Samavų village, Degučiai, Zarasai. In 1944 he fled with the front to the Germany, later emigrated to Brasil, and returned back to occupied Lithuania in 1964. Lived in Kaunas. Died in 1971 10 12. Buried in Romainiai cemetery. Wife Magdalena Brazaitytė (1901-1990), son Jonas Algirdas (born 1927).

He was major in Lithuanian army (get this rank in 1919 11 30). Joined Lithuanian army in 1918 11 10 as volunteer. Yes he served in Gedimino pulkas.

No, it was built just in 1925, and there were no church in 19century for sure. And it wasn't Salakas I'm pretty sure because I've seen many metrical books of Salakas.
So might be Dusetos then

I would bet on Zarasai. Smalvos is close but it probably was in another deanery than Samavai village.
