Born in January 1860 in Finland, Maria died October 29, 1928 at the Roodepoort hospital (Johannesburg). Her spouse was Ernst Evert Lindberg (from Finland). They were married in New York in 1893 and their only child, Sylvia Mercedes, was born there two years later. The family moved to South Africa (don't know when) where Sylvia died in 1962.

I've been looking for information about Maria Wilhelmina. It is not easy, because many women had the same name and some of them also moved to America.

Could someone advise where I could find more information about her? I have some kind of death certificate, but it doesn't have a date of birth. Thanks in advance for all possible help!

I can only tell you that her estate file (1928) has reference number 67534 and can be sourced via the Master of the Supreme court in Pretoria.
Good luck

If you get the 1893 New York marriage certificate it should confirm the names of her parents as per Nadine's reply above, kind regards, Neil + Shaggy from South Africa.

Hey everybody!
Thank you very much for all the posts. I'm already familiar with FamilySearch and Ancestry informations, but unfortunately they do not match. Maria Wilhelmiina must have been born in 1860 since she was 68 years old when she died. Therefore, parents cannot be right either. The marriage certificate would probably be an aid - or a birth certificate, but unfortunately I have not been able to find it. So I'm going to ask for a marriage certificate from New York. It can certainly be ordered online for a fee.
Have a nice day everyone, greetings from France!

I found a record of the person showing a date born 1859, it is all written in Swedish, I am having somebody in Estonia looking into it for me. Hopefully something come out of it. Anyway, the date of birth is "estimated" and not precisely. This is the thing about genealogy, it is mostly in the dark and frustrating, but sometimes there are a small bit of light on the horizon!

Hello Heidi, the New York municipal archives has certificates of those dates (1893), so suggest you contact them. Good luck. Kind regards from South Africa, Neil + Shaggy P.S., my French great grandmother was born Paris, 1865!
