https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/L835-42L shows him as one of ten children of them but with a NOTE saying:
Proof of the existence of Jesse as a son of Maj. John is scant. The narrative of Jack Hardin which contains much questionable material states that Jesse and his brother William came home to Pennsylvania from service in the Continental Army in 1781.

There is a Virginia Treasury Warrant, #2912, issued to a Jesse Harden on 25 Feb 1780, about the same time the other Hardins were taking out their Warrants for Kentucky lands. Jesse's was smaller than most - only for 250 acres for which he paid 100 #'s. There is no image available of this warrant in the Kentucky Land Office database, nor is there any evidence the tract was ever surveyed or granted.

Jesse was not mentioned in his father's will in 1788, indicating he probably had died. There is a granddaughter, Polly Hardin, named in Maj. John's will but her mother Margaret's surname is obscure. It is quite likely Polly was a daughter of Jesse. William Hardin, Jesse's brother, apparently raised this Polly, as well as Daniel, thought to possibly be her brother. [Seems to me if there had been a brother of Polly at the time Maj. John wrote his will, he would have mentioned him as well.] Daniel was later involved in lawsuits against the heirs of William Haden, but Polly never seemed to be.

Little known about Jesse; he was apparently deceased before 1788 when his father wrote …
May have been the father of a granddaughter, Polly Hardin, named in John Hardin's will. Polly's mother was a Margaret but her surname is obscure - she could have been remarried. There was also a grandson Daniel who may have been a son of Jesse. Polly & Daniel were raised by his brother William Hardin.

Jesse Hardin in 1830 in Tennessee CANNOT be this man
Jesse Hardin apparently did not live long to raise his own children. By 1830, he would have been extremely old. That cannot be this same man as listed in one of the notes attached below. However, I have left the note attached in case it can be helpful to descendants of this very different Jesse.

NO PROOF
There exists no proof that Jesse was married, that his wife was Margaret Sinnett or Houston or any other name, or that Mary and Daniel, grandchildren of John Hardin Sr., were in fact his children. This is all guess work and speculation. That Daniel and Mary "Polly" Hardin were part of the family seems certain and this seems the most logical place for them to be.
