I am the ONLY one two accounts. I tried to created a family tree using a GEDCOM file created by an open source software. After I created the first account I noticed a big mess. So, I though I made an error and closed the account thinking that it would delete it and I could back and start fresh. I didn't know the I would be locked out from my own account...and I have to wait for an invite. The problem is there is no body to invite me...it just me and it is a new account. So, I created a another account using a different email address and the same GEDCOM file. Well...the same big mess. So, the problem is definitely with the file itself. I NEED TO DELETE ALL THE INFO CREATED BY THE GEDCOM FILE ON BOTH ACCOUNTS AND START FRESH FROM SCRATCH WITHIN GENI. I do not want to merge multiple errors, so lets skip that suggestion.

I provided both email address by email to help@geni.com. But I have not received a reply. Very disappointing.

Regards,
Sam

Check, see if you are still able to undo your GEDCOM import. https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018818713-Can-I-undo-a-G...

Private User Geni Help is run out of the West Coast, it's the weekend.

I've Isolated your tree so that it can be easily deleted. I tried to find the other tree you mention but you are the only user registered with the name Samson Beyene that I can find.

Thanks Alex and Lois.

Much appreciated. And I like the idea of "isolating" a tree to clean up its branches etc.
Now, I prefer to use the email I used in the first account that I closed. However, I need to be "invited" back. Since I am the only user, there i s no one who can invite me.
Can you help? email address starts with: beyenesam

I need to check if the messy tree that was based on the sane GEDCOM file is still there. I don't mind manually creating the tree from scratch.

Regards
Sam

Sam,
Can you provide a link to the profile of you in the original tree?
Provide the link by copying and pasting the URL
if so, maybe Alex can help or provide a suggestion.

Hi Louis,
When I try to login, the link address is ...
https://www.geni.com/login?email_id=6000000177611667883

And shows...

Your account was closed on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Please refer to these instructions if you wish to rejoin Geni.

You do not explain what you were trying to log into. What were you trying to log into, and what do the instructions they refer to say

Since you seem to have posted from the Profile you originally posted here from, will see if below shows me anything

6000000177611667883 goes to

Samson is 6000000177634073846 = Private User

So if you were trying to log into your previous account, looks like it is both closed and deleted. Just as you wanted.

Are the other profiles from that tree also deleted?
You can change the email on the current account to the one you prefer to use in your account settings.
But since it looks like it has been isolated for deletion as part of your whole tree deletion, not sure it is worth it.

Alex Moes -- suggestions ?

Hi Lous,

If the old one is deleted when I closed it, that is perfect. I just wanted to make sure there is no corrupted tree floating around (due to the GEDCOM).

In the new account, the isolation helped. It is allowing me to trim some branches, deleting some entries etc. No big deal regarding changing emails addresses. I will keep what is working now (tied to the isolated tree).

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam, I cannot be 100% certain if your old tree has been deleted because I don't know for sure if you used the same name.

There are 3 profiles on Geni named Samson Beyene:

Obviously the first is you, the other two profiles are several years old so I doubt they are anything to do with your original tree.

BUT the thing is that you don't have a tree Sam, as a Curator I can visit your profile and view your stats. As of right now you have no relatives on Geni because a week ago you deleted all of them.

So you don't have a tree now and I can't know what has happened to your original tree because I don't know what name you used to create your first tree/account. If you tell me specifically what name you used for your first account I will happily check it for you.

Alex - now that all the rest of hie profiles, at least in his current tree, have been deleted, is it possible to remove the isolation, so he can slowly build up to a profile that matches one in the world tree, and when he does, he can merge in and connect to the world tree?

Or should he just close that account and start a new one - hopefully not doing a Gedcom import this time!!!

The Isolation tag is very easy to remove at anytime, and any curator or staff member can remove it.
As you say, not much point having a single profile tree Isolated.
