It is likely that Sydney discovered later in life his biological patents were not the ones that raised him. His mother Gertrude Chippindall did marry Samuel Macrow in Bathurst and a few months later Sydney is born. Interestingly living descendants believe Macrow is not their biological line. I wish them well and offer this scenario as a possible way to determine who the father was and where their Ancestors fit in. Gertrude had many siblings the daughter of a second wife that had taken over care of young step children. It is her older single sister be a few years Ada Maude Chippindall that the mystery could be explained. Ada married in 1889 a few years after Sydney was born and corresponds to immediately after the death of her Father. The groom also in Bathurst was James Anderson from a large family.
The mystery is why does the younger brother also choose Anderson as their last name. Perhaps Samuel Macrow a respected Telegraph operator known for accuracy of his messaging and also know as a womaniser having been shamed in a divorce proceeding was not a nice father. He was posted in several locations including Sydney. Also by coincidence the Reverend that married him and Gertrude had a Bathurst scandal as someone forged a fake news story about this Minister being replaced in Bathurst... yes fake news is not something new.
A proposed solution is for descendants of the children of Samuel and Gertrude to compare their dna results with verified Macrow line descendants from Thomas to Albert Owen such as myself with dna results on MyHeritage. Apparently no one talked about their Macrow Grandfather and he remarried no more children. There is a smattering of researchers from these lines that also don't collaborate as their trees ignore each others connection from the children of Samuel and Gertrude. It is unlikely that Gertrude fostered more of her sister's children so expect to see no matches from any of the descendants of Sydney Loftus ANDERSON but then will see other lines are indeed Macrow and finally all these speculative AkA Anderson and Unknown can be cleaned up. Lets respect history and the difficult times.
