When Cardinal Lustiger died, he asked that a kaddish be said for him at his funeral, and the church authorities acceded to his request. He did a lot of ecumenical work; you might wish to reconsider snubbing him.
Meanwhile, he had a cousin, Arno Lustiger, who would go on to become a famous German Holocaust historian. Arno Lustiger's father was a city councillor in Bendin. I think Arno Lustiger should be added to the list of Jewish notables from the city.

Hi Linda,
I’m a little confused. Cardinal Lustiger is not Jewish but his cousin is?

Either way, Cardinal Lustiger should be acknowledged but not snubbed unless there is more to his story?

FYI l. Proud to be connected to Arno even by marriage.

Yes, Arno Lustiger is Jewish. He said kaddish for his cousin on the steps of Notre Dame Cathedral. Aron Jean-Marie Cardinal Lustiger's grave carries the following epitaph:
"Lustiger's epitaph, which he wrote himself in 2004, can be seen in the crypt of Notre-Dame Cathedral, and translates as:

I was born Jewish.
I received the name
Of my paternal grandfather, Aron.
Having become Christian
By faith and by Baptism,
I have remained Jewish
As did the Apostles.
I have as my patron saints
Aron the High Priest,
Saint John the Apostle,
Holy Mary full of grace.
Named 139th archbishop of Paris
by His Holiness Pope John Paul II,
I was enthroned in this Cathedral
on 27 February 1981,
And here I exercised my entire ministry.
Passers-by, pray for me.

† Aron Jean-Marie Cardinal Lustiger
Archbishop of Paris"
