It cant' be both of them and I believe it's a Vann not a Jernigan even though the two families connect. I'm a descendant of both families. There is another photo under the media section that is most likely Joseph Jefferson Jernigan instead of the one that is on display - both are pulled from the Ponder Web Site on My Heritage. There is a strong resemblance between the two men. But my understanding is they're two different portraits of two related men.
Can anyone clarify 'for sure' regarding whether there are two portraits of two related men or whether they're two portraits of one man and they've gotten used on each other's profiles on some sites?
