Merged the obvious.
I doubt Cobbs and NOW I see this:
•
The "Nan" Watson who married John Acuff 24 Aug 1790 in Henry (Henrico) County, Virginia is NOT the same Nancy Watson who married Thomas Cobb.
The Nancy Watson who married Thomas Cobb is the daughter of William Watson who died in 1813 in Albemarle County Virginia, as per his will which references "My Daughter Nancy’s Husband Thomas Cobb". So the Nancy Watson who married Thomas Cobb is NOT the daughter of William "Bearskin" Watson who died in Logan County, Kentucky in 1834. The will of William Watson of Albemarle County also names his wife as Martha, and there's a marriage record for a William Watson and Martha Pleasants in Goochland County, VA (not far from Albemarle County) in Feb 1767. There's also a birth/baptism record for a Nancy Watson, daughter of William Watson and "Patty" Pleasants in Goochland County in Dec 1767. Patty used to be a nickname for Martha. It seems clear to me these are all the same family, given the names, dates, locations, and information from the will.
I do not know much about William "Bearskin" Watson who died in Kentucky in 1834, or who his wife was or whether he was the father of the "Nan" Watson who married John Acuff or not, but unless his will also says his wife was Martha, then he is not the one marrying Martha Pleasants in Goochland County, and if he's not, then he's probably also not the one who was the father of Nancy Watson in the Goochland County birth/baptism record.
The merging of these two families has caused such a mess I don't know how to undo it. Good luck to anyone who attempts it.
