So after 45 years of not knowing who I am nor where I belong, I decided to take a DNA test. This John Martin is my 10th Great Grandfather. That being said..... does ANYONE know his true identity? I also had that he married Christian Waddington. WAS there a connection to the Tribe? Just curious, as my other Great x? was William Taptico.

Christian Pettus who later married Waddington after Martin died, who was also previously married.
If you can prove your lineage, you can apply to the Patawomeck Tribe of Virginia. You have to prove about 5 generations, of I recall correctly.

If you come from John & Christian, you are a direct descendant of Pocahontas

I meant to say, Pocahontas & Kocoum and not Rolfe

Geni.com says that John Martin is my 10th Great Grandfather. This is pretty new to me... I have been stuck on Ancestry for a while. So I put my first couple of parents on the tree, and matched up to my great great grandparents on my mothers side. I got tired of messing with gedmatch trying to triangulate my matches.

Then Geni also tells me that John II is my 9th great grandfather. I'm sure people know what they are doing, but... how accurate IS Geni?

Also, oddly enough, I have a John Asa Martin who was the father of a Mercy Martin, or some people called her Treacy "Coreetuk" Martin. She was my 6th great grandmother on my mother's grandfather's side. She married into my Stricklands. She was born in PeeDee Settlement in South Carolina. I have attempted to connect the two Martin families, yet it seems as though it is going to be harder than I thought.

Do you also have family tree software on your pc? Geni is not my go to. I stopped using it when people were able to add to my trees. I don’t know if that’s changed or not.

It’s always best to go backwards as yourself. If you’re not having luck with ancestry, try family search.

Some how it seems thay John Asa is the one who moved down to PeeDee.
