@Polly Gaines (which is nickname for Mary) was probably a daughter-in-law to Susannah Gaines and Edmund Pendleton Gaines, because she is not listed in the Gaines Family Bible and her birth was after the death of Edmund Pendleton Gaines. Nor is she listed as a child to Susannah Broaddus Gaines in the book on Broaddus family history.
