I have read several of the discussions, but all the information is outdated.

I am cleaning up my tree and see no reason that an ex (we have no children together) needs to remain on my tree.

How do I remove him and all his Familia connections?

I do go into the relationships portion of my profile, click his name, but then I get the red warning box and it will not allow me to go further.

This family and I have no obligations or contact with each other.

It serves no purpose for me to hang on to these profiles.

You can edit your family on your profile page
www.geni.com/media/proxy?media_id=6000000188599926956&size=large

That edit just effects display on your profile. It explicitly says
"To hide people from the Immediate Family box on your profile, click the "Hide" buttons in the list to the left. They will not be notified, and they can always be added back. Note: Hiding an immediate family member does not break the connection in the tree. Use the edit relationships page to remove connections completely."

Not being a Pro, Vicki Lynn Hoffman you cannot cut that connection yourself.
Usually, in situations such as this, a Curator will agree to cut the Connection. Mike Stangel has definitely indicated it is fine to do when no children.
If Job doesn't want to, then try posting in https://www.geni.com/discussions/245980

Lois is correct.
If you really want to have to connection removed you can ask for that in ATTENTION Curators, please assist, but Geni tries to build one tree (and if you are connected you cannot really speak about My Tree anymore)
If you got this error it seems your partner is not yet connected to the tree in other ways, so disconnecting him would sever him from the one tree.

Job,

Just FYI, in one sense you are correct. But I saw Mike live at a Conference once, and he was adamant each of us had a Tree (not just the World Tree). and it was correct to refer to my tree, your tree, etc.
So it seems in one sense, it is totally correct and acceptable for Vicki to say "my tree"

Okay thanks
