The Whetstone family's property was in present-day Calhoun County, marked by Mill's Atlas as a place called Whetstone's Mill...tradition has it that he was severely wounded in the Battle of Eutaw Springs in September, 1781 but did not die until 1782 as a result of his wounds. It would be questionable to list him on this profile as dying at Eutaw Springs.
