Michael Blind was about seventeen when he married Margaret Pifer (D/O Henry and Catherine Pifer) in 1776 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.

Margaret died in 1785 in Strasburg, Virginia.

Michael Blind was about twenty-six and Mary Funkhouser was about sixteen when they married on December 17, 1786 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.

He purchased 150 acres on Snapps's Run in 1788 about a mile south of the Funkhouser homestead and eventually acquired an additional 100 acres there.

The 1810 census revealed they were living in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Household members: Michael (26-44), Mary (26-44), three sons (under 10), one son (10-15), one son (16-25), one daughter (under 10), two daughters (10-15), three daughters (16-25). They were living next door to the Frederick Doll family.

Their son, Jacob married Elizabeth Doll and their daughter, Rebecca married Jacob Doll.

The 1820 census revealed three household members were engaged in agriculture. Household members: Michael (45 and over), Mary (45 and over), two sons (10-15), one son (16-25), one daughter (under 10), two daughters (10-15), three daughters (16-25).

Michael and Mary deeded a plot of land in 1825 to build a school house and place of worship. The Blind's School House, which was used by the United Brethren for worship stood very close to the present day Mt. Hebron Church, which was built in 1847.

They had been married about forty-four years when Mary died in 1830 before the census.

A stone recovered from the old Blind graveyard has the inscription - M.B. 1830.

The 1830 census revealed Michael (70) was a widower and had two sons (20-29) and one daughter (20-29) living with him.

Will Record (Shenandoah County Will Book "R'.p.18) Michael wrote a will in April 1831 and it was probated August 9, 1831.

Jacob J. Funkhousher purchased the 250 acre farm from the heirs of his uncle Michael Blind in 1932.

The "Blind-Funkhouser Cemetery" lies in the vicinity of Toms Brook in Shenandoah County, Virginia. A Limestone marker (M.Blind) found in the farm building area of the Bob Whitaker farm is now imbedded in a retaining wall near his residence.

Michael died sometime in 1831 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.

Michael lived to about age 71.
