I got a note from Lucinda Campbell Russell letting me know about this great stash of early VA info on people her dad created. There is even a way to search by name.

The tip came about from the book Adventurers in Purse and Person -- still reminds me of a name of a play used in an old movie... Like "Footsteps on the Ceiling,".. lol

I met the original author of the original book Mrs. Nell Nugent. I also knew John Dorman very well. He came to my parents' house as my father was in his last illness, in 1996, and purchased his 20,000 papers, which are now known collectively as The R. Bolling Batte papers. They are housed in the Virginia State Library in Richmond, and are online. If you are not aware of them, you may wish to take a look.
