I'm researching my 4th Great Grandfather, Andrew L. Mathews/Matthews/Mathieus, who married a Choctaw Indian and had one child, John Rafe/Ralph Mathews (1825 - 1879). During the early 1800s there were many Mathews/Matthews/Mathieus families all around Rapides parish and Avoyelles parish; however, I cannot find a DNA connection. I have found 100s of DNA relatives on Ancestry.com with Mathew kin, but have not been able to find where the branches cross.

My hypothesis is that he was outcast by his family for his relationship with the Choctaw Indian. My family has excellent records but this is where their research stops. He could be from a Mathews family from France or Germany, but I'm doubtful.
