August 17, 1791, North Carolina marriage bond has James as a Harwood. William Harwood also posts bond.
Wake Book U, page 367, June 20, 1808 has James and his relatives listed as Harward.
Pension application July 24, 1833, has name as Harwood and Harward.
I personally favor Harward since my family in Tennessee spelled the name Harward.
