A Funeral Service for Ray Alexander Fuller will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Colfax with Deacon EJ Barre officiating. Interment will follow in Colfax Cemetery under the direction of Kramer Funeral Home of Colfax.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph's from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Ray Alexander Fuller, 95, of Colfax, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Colfax Reunion Rehabilitation Center.
Ray is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lucille Duthile Fuller; his father, Grady Fuller; mother, Lillie Roberts Fuller; and sister Nellie Mae Rodriguez.
Ray was born on January 1, 1927, in Alexandria. He proudly served his country in the Army 47th Engineering Battalion at end of World War II on the U.S.A.T. Admiral G.F. Hughes ship under operation "Magic Carpet" with the slogan "Home Alive by '45", where the President commissioned all available ships to bring over 3,000,000 soldiers back home. He was a well-known school bus driver for Colfax Elementary/High School, worked for Lutesville Sand and Gravel and retired from the Grant Parish Police Jury Maintenance Barn. Ray was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Colfax, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, St. Joseph's Men's Club, Parish Council and Finance Committee.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Debbie Thompson (Art), Donna Tyler (Steve), and son, Danny Ray Fuller; five grandchildren Heath Tyler, Tabbatha Campbell, Kayla Tyler, Nicole Lowder and Nicholas Thompson; and six great-grandchildren, Stephen Michael Tyler, Jaycie Tyler, Kaylee Tyler, Zoe Lowder, Sebastian Lowder and Sophie Thompson.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Heath Tyler, Stephen Michael Tyler, Joe Campbell, Nicholas Thompson, Guy Lowder and Ryan Coutee. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Derrian Sapp, Donnie Bankston and James Lacour.
The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice and Colfax Reunion Nursing Home.
