Thomas James Davies: It has been a long time since I last saw you. I visited your uncle and aunt, Ron and Sally Davies, a short time before their tragic accident.

In my early notes, dating back into the mid to late 1960's, I had obtained information about John Patterson of Londonderry, Ireland. I had a date of 1640 for him. The next descendent Robert Patterson was followed by a William Patterson and then Thomas Patterson born in Ireland, in 1759. My problem always was the 119 years between John and Thomas. It did not seem that there were enough years. I was not sure that 1640 was birth date for John or the year he came to Londonderry. If it were his birth year, then it is possible.

I would like to ask from where you obtained your information? What are your sources?

Hello Ed! It has been a long time! All the info here - from me - was from my Dad's genealogy research. After he passed in 1993, I found a briefcase with his genealogy info in it. Years later, I came across it again and thought it was a shame to just put it in a box, that I should share it. I put what I found here on Geni.com. For the most part he didn't have what we would call primary or even secondary sources for his information. There weren't any birth/death certificates or references to official records. Dad used to talk about doing some research back in the 50's when he spent some time in the UK. In the case of John Patterson, the reference is a book titled "Concerning the Forefathers" by Charlotte Conover (1902). There's a quote from it in the Overview section on John Patterson's profile page. That's the only reference/evidence I know of that talks about John Patterson and mentions the 1640 date.
