I had an Ingram descendant contact me on Ancestry about the immigrants to America on these lines, which are my son's paternal lines. So I came here to check some info and read the profile notes that refute the parental connections here on Geni for this John Arthur Ingram.

The notes state:

There is NOTHING recorded that would indicate this is John Ingram‘s father

John Ingram was the son of Hugh Ingram (wife-Ann) and according to Hugh's will died before Hugh did and left 4 children among them a son, John who could be the son listed by many to be the "son" of Hugh. The will is written in "Old English" so I had it translated by NEGHS and it proves John that came to America was not Hugh's son. All records should be CORRECTEDWilliam was born about 1563. He passed away about 1623.

So in light of that, it seems the parental connections here on Geni are incorrect and give inaccurate lineage. So I checked the info I had found in years past and wanted to share these links that do seem to support the Geni connections:

If anyone else has additional info to either support or correct the parental connections, please share. Thanks.

No one noted as going to America.

No one called John Arthur Ingram.

There are comments at Wikitree including:

a post by virginiajamerson does an excellent job of reviewing all the Virginia John Ingrams

1654--There doesn't seem to be much dissension concerning the "first" John Ingram of Northumberland Co., VA. His actual birth date, name of his wife or wives, and arrival date in America seem to still have questions but we can document sightings in Virginia as early as 1651 and know his will was written and proved in 1654. (I will refer to him as John #1)

From his will we know that he had a daughter, Elizabeth, not yet 18 and another daughter named Jane and a son, Thomas.. We also know that his wife's name was Jane and that she remarried Thomas Hopkins after the death of John Ingram.

John #1 asks that his son, Thomas be "brought up to read and write" so we know Thomas is still a minor and probably a young one at that.

I just finished reviewing the Will & property of John Ingram, in fact, from

https://www.colonial-settlers-md-va.us/getperson.php?personID=I489&...

This is not a wealthy man, although he seems comfortable.

The dates do not work for John Ingram of Virginia, born say 1622, to have been the John, son of Hugh, listed at the Visitation. There is no other John.

I recommend detaching, and also from wife Eleanor Ingram which has no references.
