Klemens Zmitrowicz. Seeking index of Lithuanian passports for years 1908-1912

John, I see you've started a few discussions. This area isn't particularly active, but there are some active online groups.

There used to be a group on Yahoo but it moved and unfortunately I can't recall where, but maybe someone else will respond with a link.

Here are scanned passports for various places in LT. (Disregard the title of Kaunas -- I've found many other areas in these collections.)

Unfortunately, you'll need to scan each image to determine if it is relevant to your family.

Andrea Rogers-Valen These passports were issued in Kaunas but as it was a fast growing capital of Lithuania at the time, people could have been born in different places. There are different funds for other counties but unfortunately they are not online. Majority of people received their first passport during WWI.

Eglė -- Yes, Kaunas was the capital so it makes sense to us, but can be misleading for newer researchers in the FamilySearch record title. ;)

I wouldn't mind staring a project to index those records, if we can get volunteers to help.

There is no point because archives are uploading coloured scans of Kaunas passport cards on EAIS.
