These are some Skinner lines that married into Cherokee lines, that I wanted to vet and verify before adding to project.

The Father is in question. He is listed as John Freeman Skinner. My Skinner is listed as John Franklin Skinner. I did have to separate two realitives under the same exact name of John Franklin Skinner.

Message sent to me states:

Barbara Croley/ Andersoon

My Grandmother was married to John F. Skinner in 1915 in Ramona Oklahoma.
Her name was Cornelia Crowell Benge/ Fields (Cherokee). They had two children, Bethel and Hulda Mauldine Skinner ( my Mother). Cornelia died three weeks after giving birth to my mother. John Skinner was reported dead before my mother was born, the two girls were adopted. I have never found a death cert or any info on his death so maybe he was still alive.
Do you feel there could be any connection?

You'll note FamilySearch has documentation to prove maternal side of inherited Cherokee lines for Barbara.

Frances Hulda Croley

Familysearch:

John Freeman Skinner

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/GQSR-8Q4

My Skinner lines is an Uncle. You'll note discrepancies in Ydna on Geni. FamilySearch listed him under both names connected to my lines.

*John Franklin Skinner

The other John Franklin separated, but still family.

*John Franklin Skinner

I have another Uncle who married into Cherokee lines, through Skinner Surname as well as Faubus and their varies spellings. This leads to Montgomery lines of the denial of Cherokee heritage by the tribe. Eliza is a dead end. I sourced photos and other sources of denial papers on Lettica-Howard.

Lettica ‘Lettie Hatchet Grey’ Howard

Here is the other line I wanted verified and added. Another Aunt, Cherokee line.

Nellie Skinner

Cordelia Benge was Cherokee. She married Lous Fields in 1907. They were the parents of a daughter, Mary. They separated and Cordelia married J.F. Skinner (a white man) in 1915 (in Kansas, perhaps to avoid questions about previous marriage). In 1920 Cornelia, Mary Fields, and daughter Bethel Skinner were living with Cornelia's mother. No information on Mr. Skinner.

Letitica Howard had no connection to the Cherokee. All Internet myth.

@Kathryn

Should we then add her line? I'm working out John Skinner. It may have even been a third man merged into my family lines. Not the first time and I'm sure the last. I agree a white man on Skinner lines. I just straighten out the Rush and Skinner line as my Grandfather been connected forever to it. I had like 40 issues to resolve on here as errors and that's how I figured him out. He's Pending on here. Two generated Ydna for Skinner line. Either more wrong Genealogy or Not Parent Expected.

As for Letty, I'm working on up at Samuel with my Sisco lines. The notes on the profile will not make sense for now. Lines have been wrong for awhile. They've been worked out by us all on here and separated. This is also more Bass research, as I've been putting documentation on them.

Thoughts on Nellie Skinner ?

Cornelia Crowell Skinner in Geni appears different from "Cordelia Benge" who I cannot find here but know she is probably or "Cornelia" needs corrections to her profile existing.
I don't see a Louis Fields.
I know we have done a LOT of work on Fields here but don't know if related family.
Field(s) is a maternal line name.
I think Erica Howton is familiar with Benge
I think the more we get "internet myth" correct(ed) here, the better!

@Cynthia

As it stands on here as is... Cornelia is leading to my maternal side, on on my mother's, her father side. Here is the profile that I disconnected from wrong parents and a Curator connected.

Samuel Skinner, Jr.

I'll share the path.

It would also,if a true path be connected on my father's side,as my second Grandfather were a Skinner. I'll tag him as well.

Erica Howton

This was also the McLemore discussion lines and dead end line that was another Cherokee Genealogy line. Should we tag them here? Seems relevant, asa lot of messed up lines.

This link needs research as well. Famous person . I've done some work on it but proceed with caution.

Morgan Freeman

My line but Wright McLemore needs checking because another source gives William, his brother as my line and he married Julie Wright and her father was Elof Wright.
Just putting that out there for double checking.

https://www.geni.com/path/Annber-Collins+is+related+to+William-McLe...

I think Cornelia Crowell Skinner = Cordelia who married Louis Fields 1st, with daughter Mary, as described at https://www.geni.com/discussions/277815?msg=1694029

You need documentation added to her profile, and her missing children.

The documentation should help point to who Louis Fields was.

Annber Lynn Collins is asking about the family of Run After McLemore

I see I had added a snippet from (discredited) genealogist Jim White to her profile:

https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000103964835824

And had cited Jim Hicks:

https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/h/i/c/James-R-Hicks-VA/BOOK-0001/0031...

I think her ancestry is valid? Her father was John McLemore, Sr. son of Charles MacLemore, Indian interpreter & Quatsy Wolf

As far as I can tell, that’s the only Cherokee connection to the Macklemore / McLemore family.

Annber Lynn Collins - Does actor Morgan Freeman possibly have Cherokee ancestry, or are you looking at the McLemores in your path to him? He’s not running through Run After’s family.

Can you ask the profile manager to make J.F. Skinner public please? He cannot be worked with otherwise, except by her.

William Skinner, b. 1704 and d.1747 United States R-M269

So if the geni tree is correct, John Franklin Skinner should be a R M269 variant.

The geni tree error may be around William Skinner, of Georgia

The Fairchild and McLemore lines to Morgan. He was told he had Choctaw NA Ancestry by relatives. Dna was done on a relative and showed no NA Ancestry. I talked to someone on Ancestry and invited her here to manage Kizziah when I was documenting her...The trees online showed NA Ancestry and African,on Ancestry.com. It's a mess. DNA done said otherwise. On Findagrave they had Kizziah and her pictures saved at the Findagrave link below. Separated fact from fiction is the goal with him. He ties into the NA Ancestry clean-up for these lines. I included him, so we can vet it,clean it up. He has African and European Ancestry.

I'm working from front to end and trying to met up in the middle. I found some information for the Sisco and Durham lines and put it on Samuel's profile as it relates to Boone and Bass lines. These are Free African Americans lines connected. It's just a where to put people and document them. I could use eyes on Morgan for the Fairchild/Freeman and McLemore clean-up. I suspect up the tree some Durham's lines weren't NA but African.

Kizziah Elizabeth McLemore

This Findagrave for Kizziah was fixed but use to be wrong.

This is the record I have for my John Franklin Skinner. When he died it list a Minnie as a wife. I have seen Mary be used for Minnie. If you'll also look at the FamilySearch it also listed John Freeman. So,same person or different? It appeared the same, so I listed that on John Franklin's profile but have not expanded on Minnie. I wanted eyes on John Franklin vs John Freeman? The same or difficult?

His lines were messed up with another John Franklin, family relations but same Forename. I had to separate them first.

As you'll see both Skinner lines, on both sides of my parents family has either an NPE or wrong Genealogy. Just trying to figure out which lines had the NA. I'll tag and see if she'll make him Public. I'll look wt the links you put up as well.

https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/3807363?mark=7b22746f6b656e223a226...

I think this is the video Gates tells Morgan he's 0 percent NA. It does go on to show a European line married to an African. If it doesn't ,you can kiok it up.

https://youtu.be/jcW2cocnuXM?si=dcE2NOC5PbCSy9F4

Be sure to read Ancestry’s article on testing for NA ancestry.
On a somewhat a related topic, My AA still shows at 23&me but the segment (SNP) is showing as unevaluated at AncestryDNA on their ethnicity section that shows the chromosome for paternal And maternal comparisons. (It looks like a chrome browser but I have been corrected for calling it that lol).
Same with 23&me for NA. My maternal uncle’s original ethnicity report at 23&me showed Native American but is now gone and I unfortunately don’t have a screenshot of it. It was the YELLOW Native American ethnicity showing.
My own 23&me showed the RED version for Native American was lost with the second update. I do not recall the difference between the yellow and the red but I made a note of it somewhere…
I just wanted to add that not having NA in the ethnicity results does not negate it

Can we dedicate this particular discussion to Cherokee only, and spin Morgan Freeman off to a separate discussion? Appreciate it.

Sorry, Erica; I did not mean to muddy the water

Erica Howton

I understand. I'm just a visual learner and need to talk things out sometimes. It helped me actually. I'm working solo to correct it. The Clark or Clarke connection is what I'm after. I get it... It's just for Cherokee Genealogy. I included it because the McLemore lines.

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087

I aldo included it because of that reasons. Native American lore.

Certain test are better than others. My own daughter ranges from 15 to 27 percent NA,depending on test. We could chat privately if you want. :)

Just start a separate discussion from Morgan Freeman’s profile, as we know he does not have known Cherokee. I think there’s interest in getting him accurate by many.

I’ve been working on the Skinner DNA problem.

The break is here:

William Skinner, of Georgia

https://www.familytreedna.com/public/Skinner%20%20Family%20tree%20D... Haplogroup I1 - Lineage 1 (predicted terminal SNP FGC47152 or below) William Skinner, b1760, d1820 Richmond County, GA

I don’t think John Franklin Skinner Is the same man as the JF Skinner who married Cornelia Benge in 1915, in Kansas.

I don’t think the John Skinner who married Esther Griffin in 1913, in Oklahoma, was the same person as either.

So far, the JF Skinner married to Cornelia Benge with 2 daughters has no other family we can verify.

The John Franklin you tagged is the uncle to the 'John Franklin' Skinner that married Minnie, she thinks she belongs too. Arkansas and Oklahoma ate the main areas for my lines.

I saw what you did for the William Skinner line. So the Ydna "I" is correct for William, should it resolve the two Ydna attached to my Skinner line? Once the father was detached, it shows as a 1st cousin line, so many times removed. I know my parents share like 68 to 100 mutual cousins. :/

I'll work on somethings tonight too.

John Franklin Skinner
