Query on John TICKNELL

There are 2 brothers called John TICKNELL and I think they have been confused

1. John William Thomas Ticknell born 23/5/1874
2. John Ticknell born 26/8/1876

There are birth records for the 2 boys so definetely not the same person,

It is more probable that the first child died young (before 1876) and the second child should be the one that married and had children.

John Ticknell ( shown on Tasmanian Libraries , birth records > Mother as KATE Buckley,, NOT Catherine ?? Buckley ,,, possibly Different family , John William Thomas Ticknell WAS my great Grand Father , always Wondered < WHY you would call 2 sons JOHN ..

I don’t think they are 2 families - literacy rates were very low in that time so spelling was very fluid.

James Robert Ticknell, I children are registered with a couple different spellings - Ticknell, Tickner, Strickland

Newspaper accounts show they are the same family
- David born 1870, birth registered as STRICKLAND, newspaper of marriage as TICKNELL second son of James TICKNELL, his niece Mrs L BROOKS is one of the mourners at his funeral
- James born 1868, birth registered as TICKNER, marriage as TICKNELL - his daughter Ellen married Lesley BROOKS

Kate BUCKLEY and Catherine BUCKLEY are the same person.
