I have her parents Father; John Lawrence 1638-1696. Mother; Mary Power 1643-1700.Pricilla married Matthew Whitfield 1646-1708. Their son Willim Whitfield l, 1688-1770 was my 7th great grandfather.I dont know how far the tests go back, but I have no native DNA. Mary Power's Father is listed as John Power 1597-1661 and Mother Ruth Phypo 1598-1642 both from Waterford, Ireland, UK. If you find anything new out, please let me know. Thank You, Teresa Whitfield Senters
Do you see where there was a tax or tithe paid on her? That means she was FPOC. The person that could answer this better than anyone is not on this site anymore. I will have to check about these parents from Ireland...that is very questionable to me. If i find out i will come back here and let you know.
Download your raw data from your ancestry test to gedmatch.com. There are tutorials on there about how to use the site. You can use some of their calculators to see your percentages. Being that far back its not going to show on a regular test probably. My tribal historian is who did this line, and she is no longer on this site. I will try to get in touch with her and see what she can tell us. I do see where she has them as paying tax...so that tells me they were FPOC. I also descend from them, but mine is Ann Exum. If i find out i will get back with you. I know our historian is very busy this time of year, so if you havent heard from me in a week, send me a reminder lol.
Thank you all for the info! My grandmother said her great great grandmother was Native, & she looks it, dark hair , & skin. too far back for the dna to show up. Of course she's passed away as I'm 67. She said it was from her mother- Whitfield/ Loving surnames. Whitfield is the line for sure. but FPOC may also indicate African? glad to see there was a native historian on the case
