I am a descendent of Aldridge and Nancy Ford, their daughter Lydia Ann Ford. I know on Aldridge's death certificate Richard is listed as his father. I have found one other from the children of Richard. His children are Eliza, Mary, Emily, Aldridge, William , Alonzo, and Marshall. In speaking with someone from Alonzo's lineage and doing further research that's out there this is what I know. Richard was from the Spotsylvania, Fauquier, Prince William area of Virginia. He moved his family to Mason Virginia around 1818 give or take. He acquired land from Howell Lewis' estate there in Mason Va after Howell's death in 1822. Richard died in Mason Virginia in 1827 (settling of his estate took place in 1827). He left the land to divided among his kids after his death (deed records show this). The children over time sold their land off. Aldridge sold his in 1836 and then showed up in Doddridge Co Va/WV at which time he married Nancy and started his family. One researcher I saw noted on a page of Thomas Ford (which is whom most genealogy sites have him as a child of) stated that he was a descendent of Richard's and that in his research he felt Richard was a brother of Thomas' father (he said possibly a Francis Ford but not clear evidence of such connection). He felt that after Richard's death, Aldridge went to live with Thomas or near Thomas as they were probably related. There is a deed from 1824 where Richard Ford and Isabella (stated as his wife) are selling land to the Holmes family that Isabella had acquired after a Thomas Holmes has died (left land to heirs in Prince William Virginia). I am unsure if she is the mother of al the children, some, or none at all as there is no direct tie of her to them. On Aldridge's death certificate, a mother's name is not noted. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
