There were some issues with his wife and children. Please check especially Elizabeth Allan (Hudson). I disconnected a wife Sarah Settle

Was she ever married to a Hudson? To William Hudson?

I had to move the children from her to Sarah Allen.

I need some help in untangling

William Hudson, of King George County
William Hudson, Jr.
Sarah Settle
Sarah Settle

Are these two William Hudsons the same person?
Was he married to Sarah Allen or Sarah Woffendahl?
Was Sarah Woffendahl married first to William Hudson and then to Benjamin Settle?
Are the children the children of Sarah Woffendahl or Sarah Allen?

The above link seems to have good sources but see the profile of William Hudson 1670-1729 which says he was married to Sarah Allen and was NOT the son of Joshua Hudson and Elizabeth Rush.

This might also help.

It refers to William Hudson, of King George County who married Sarah Settle

Sarah Settle Has mixed up children attached to her, I think, and wrong dates.

Sarah Allen didn’t exist. She’s a mixup of Sarah Settle & her daughter Elizabeth Allan perhaps.

I don’t find family for William Hudson, of King George County

Actually, I think William Hudson “of Fauquier” did not exist either, and should be merged into the real guy.

(This link https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hudson-4585 is incomplete)

Thanks! I'll get to these later. I suspected that Sarah Allen did not exist.

I'm going to merge the two Williams. I agree with your thinking.

There were two clues that the William Hudsons were actually the same - descendants of William Hudson of King George County manage the second profile AND the death date of the second profile was that of William Hudson of King George County. They are nicely merged now.

Thank you, Hatte Rubenstein Blejer

That “other” William Hudson wasn’t doing anyone any good. I really think it was just a location typo, somewhere & somehow.

Thank you Erica Howton. I got an email from a user alerting me to a Gedcom in the family with a lot of duplicates of historical profiles. I detached and isolated above this William and then saw that there was confusion. I probably added to the confusion until I realized that at least Sarah Allen was likely wrong and probably the second William also.

I just need to say that paying close attention to geography is really paying off for me. I’ve been adding to “town” and “county” projects and using their logos, also. Makes it much easier to spot something out of joint.

PS, and following what profiles have the same manager helps a while lot too, good point.
