Kearsley is close to Ogden, where Levi pastored his first church. He left the UK in 1879 to become the pastor in Grahamstown. If it is him it takes us one generation back, and tells us about his brother and father.

It sounds very much like you have found the correct Levi Nuttal.

Would John and Martha be Levi's brother and new sister in law?
married a 17 months before Levi and family left England.
Where did you find the records?

We have a silver tray which was:

"Presented to Mr and Mrs Nuttall
BY THE MEMBERS AND FRIENDS
OF THE HOGHTON St BAPTIST CHURCH
SOUTHPORT
SEPTEMBER 1880"

Was handed down from G/ Gran Perry to Granny Owen and then to my mom Muriel.

I Googled his name, and found it on a very long list of marriages. Yes - that would be his brother and sister-in-law.

Could you photograph the tray and load it Ken? I would really appreciate that - and tag all the relevant people. I don't know Levi's wife's name.

I tried getting Jeffrey Owen Hawkes' email address from one of the professional golfing associations, but have not had any response.

We are away this week-end with our Home Cell in the Cedarberg - so won't get any Genie digging done!

Have a good week-end!
