About 1st wife of Germain Doucet

It is not possible that the mother of the children of Germain Doucet is a sister of the wife of Jacques Bourgeois as some authors make claim, since the in-laws of the latter only married ' In 1627. There is, however, the possibility that Germain Doucet may have married a daughter of Guillaume Trahan who did not give him any surviving child, but it is also possible that his second wife is the sister of Jacques Bourgeois and not The sister of his wife.

Biography

From https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-338291

Unknown Doucet (Germain's first wife) was born about 1600.

Around 1620, Germain married a woman whose name is Unknown (Doucet).[1] .

Germain Doucet and his first wife had three children:

  • Pierre, born 1621, France.
  • Marguerite, born 1625, France.
  • an unknown daughter who married Pierre Lejeune dit Briard in Port Royal in 1650.[1] (Unverified information: possibly born in Acadie, possibly who was from a second wife who was from the local Mi'kmaq or Abenaki natives, or possibly that third child was adopted.[citation needed])
  • A fourth child is listed: Germain As proven by DNA evidence garnered from nearly a dozen Doucet descendants, Germain was not the son of Germain Doucet (born 1595), but was either a Mi'kmaq or Abenaki whom the Captain at Arms adopted, perhaps when he started living with the boy's mother around 1635-40. In 1650, when the Sieur d'Aulnay died, Germain was remembered in his will. In recognition for his many years of "loyalty and affection", Doucet received 200 livres and with his wife, a promise of free food and 50 écus of rent per year for the rest of their lives.[2]

The unknown first spouse of Germain died sometime before 1654, as Germain married another unidentified woman at that time.[1]

DNA

The Mothers of Acadia Maternal DNA project is conducting ongoing research to verify their origins. In 2010, Stephen White reported that descendants of Germain's daughter, Marguerite Doucet, had a Haplogroup T2b. We don't know the details of how many of her descendants were tested to support this report. Ongoing test results are also reported here. As of May 2014, 7 descendants have consistently reported a T2 haplogroup, indicating European origins.
