As I suspected, the photograph which I have of L.H. ALISON is from the Imperial War Museum. I attach it in case you do not already have it, together with the brief account which will be in our records for the War of 1914-18.

Laughton Hassard ALISON (Imperial War Museum) ALISON, Laughton Hassard Born Glastonbury, 19 April 1890 Father military then chief constable of Somerset Educated Harrow School PCC 1909 Scholar, mathematics then physics, golf blue Worked as a clerk in a munitions factory Regiment Berkshire, 2nd Lieut. Died either 15 or 16 May 1915, reported missing south of Richebourg l’Avoué after the battle of Festhubert, “It was a night attack and no one saw him fall, but he never returned, and, though the ground covered by his Regiment was carefully searched, his body was never found; he is thought to have been buried under the earth thrown up by the heavy German shells, with which the ground was pitted” Commemorated at Le Touret Memorial, Richebourg l’Avoué and at Christ Church, Charnock Richard, near Chorley [PH]
