About Prince Mstislav

From the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy page on Russia Rurikid:

http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/RUSSIA,%20Rurik.htm

MSTISLAV Vladimirovich "the Brave" (978-[1034/36], bur Church of the Redeemer).

The Primary Chronicle names (in order) Izyaslav, Mstislav, Yaroslav and Vsevolod as the four sons of Vladimir & his wife Rogned[92]. The Primary Chronicle in another section names (in order) Vysheslav, Izyaslav, Yaroslav, Svyatopolk, Vsevolod, Svyatoslav, Mstislav, Boris, Gleb, Stanislav, Pozvizd and Sudislav as the twelve sons of Vladimir, recording that his father established Mstislav in Tmutorakan after the death of his brother Vysheslav[93].

His father sent him to rule in Tmutorokan in 988.

In 1024, he moved his headquarters north to Chernigov to challenge his half-brother Iaroslav whom he defeated at Listven. The brothers agreed a division of territories, Mstislav taking the land on the eastern bank of the Dnieper including Chernigov and Tmutorokan.

The Primary Chronicle records the death of Mstislav in [1034/36] while on a hunting expedition and his place of burial[94]. His territories fell to Iaroslav.

m ---. The name of Mstislav´s wife is not known.

Mstislav & his wife had one child:

a) EVSTAFII Mstislavich (-young 1033). The Primary Chronicle records the death of Eustathius son of Mstislav in 1033[95].

From the Wikipedia page on his father, Vladimir Svyatoslavich:

http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%B4%D0%B8%D0%BC%D...

Mstislav. In 1018, along with his older sisters, Mstislav was captured by Polish Prince Boleslaw I the Brave.

This profile originally was supposed to be for a second son of Vladimir who died in infancy. There is no birth or death date given for this individual. This is not Mstislav The Brave of Chernigov and Tmutorakan.

From the Russian Wikipedia page on his father, Vladimir Svyatoslavich:

http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%B4%D0%B8%D0%BC%D...

Mstislav. If he is mentioned in some version of the list as a son of Vladimir, it is not a mistake (the name Mstislav appears twice among Vladimir's children). He most likely died in infancy.
