About George Marsden Waterhouse
Has the unique distinction of being the only person to have been Premier of 2 British colonies. South Australia in 1860's and New Zealand in 1870's.
George and Lydia had no children of their own so adopted two sisters Fanny & Lizzie Stanford the daughters of Henry and Mary Ann Stanford. Mary Ann died in childbirth in 1857.
