Thomas Coventry, 1st Baron Coventry of Aylesborough, was the son of Sir Thomas Coventry and Margaret Jeffries. He matriculated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 15 December 1592. He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1594.1 He was a practising barrister in November 1603. He held the office of Bencher of the Inner Temple in 1614.1 He held the office of Recorder of London from November 1616 to March 1617. He held the office of Solicitor-General between 1617 and 1621. He was invested as a Knight on 16 March 1616/17 at Theobalds, Hertfordshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Droitwich from 1620 to 1621. He held the office of Attorney-General from 1620/21 to 1625. He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 30 October 1625.1 He held the office of Lord Keeper of the Great Seal between 1 November 1625 and 1640.1 He held the office of High Steward of Cambridge between 1626 and 1640.1 He was created 1st Baron Coventry of Aylesborough, co.     Thomas Coventry, 1st Baron Coventry of Aylesborough was born in 1578 at Croome Dabitot, Worcestershire, England.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Coventry and Margaret Jeffries.1 He married, firstly, Sarah Sebright, daughter of John Sebright and Anne Bullingham, before 1606.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Aldersey, daughter of John Aldersey and Anne Lowe, before 1610.3 He died on 14 January 1639/40 at Durham House, the Strand, London, England.3 He was buried on 1 March 1639/40 at Croome Dabitot, Worcestershire, England.3 His will was probated on 18 January 1639/40.3
