• Married, firstly, Lady Beatrice Susan Dalrymple, daughter of John Hew North Gustav Henry Hamilton-Dalrymple, 11th Earl of Stair and Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie, on 1 June 1908. He and Lady Beatrice Susan Dalrymple were divorced in 1922.
• Married, secondly, Marjorie McIntyre, daughter of Thomas Walker McIntyre and Jeannie Paterson Galloway, on 16 August 1922.
• Died on 22 April 1945 at age 64.1
• Lieutenant in the service of the Life Guards.
• Fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.
• Major in the service of the Guards Machine Gun Regiment.
• Major in the service of the Ayrshire Yeomanry.
• Succeeded to the title of 16th Earl of Eglinton [S., 1507] on 10 August 1919, and to the title of 5th Baron Ardrossan, of Ardrossan, co. Ayr [U.K., 1806] on 10 August 1919.
• Succeeded to the title of 17th Lord Montgomerie [S., 1445] on 10 August 1919, and to the title of 4th Earl of Winton [U.K., 1859] on 10 August 1919.
