About Bill Finger (cocreator of “The Batman”)
Born February 8th. 1914, in Denver, Colorado. William "Bill Finger" Fingerman as an infant, left Denver and went with his family to New York City. His Father, was a Taylor by trade, but when "The Great Depression" hit in 1929, he closed his business. Having relatives in The Bronx on his Mother's Side, they moved to The Fordham Section. Having the family to survive, William took on various jobs from a taxi driver.to a shoe salesman. While doing this, he also became a short story-pulp writer. In the Mid 1930's, William met Artist-Illustrator, Robert "Bob Kane" Kahn and began to write stories for the comic strips. In early 1939, William was approached by D.C. Comics to work on a comic book character along with Bob Kane. In May 1939, "Batman" Debut and it became popular. While in his writing carrier, be wrote and ghost wrote various stories, (Mostly for D.C. Comics), which included, The Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Etc. Leaving The Bronx, he settled in The Greenwich Village Section of Manhattan, where he would live out the rest of his days. Most of his other writings and credit for the co-creating of "Batman" was non-noted, until after his passing in January, 18th., 1974
