About Janet Reno, United States Attorney General
Janet Reno served as the Attorney General of the United States, from 1993 to 2001. She was nominated by President Bill Clinton on February 11, 1993, and confirmed on March 11, 1993. She was the first woman to serve as Attorney General and the second longest serving Attorney General after William Wirt. She later ran for the Democratic nomination for the governorship of Florida and was involved with various philanthropic efforts. She died due to complications of Parkinson's disease, which she had first noticed in the mid-1990s.
